Sevendust - Time Travelers and Bonfires
***
Sevendust have a stop gap with acoustic release!
Conceived through the music pledge scheme, the bands kind of new album 'Time travelers and Bonfires' is an all acoustic album from Sevendust and a nice filler before the release of a new album full of new material. The band wanted to follow up on their acoustic live album 'Southside double Wide' and wanting to explore that element of their sound more fully we now have this album. If you thought you weren't going to get any new material on this album you do get some, because this album is
consisting of six brand new songs and six classics re-recorded acoustically.
'Time travelers and Bonfires' is a laid back album which shows of what strong songwriters are in the band while hearing the classics again. You can picture the songs in a more heavy setting which shows whether a song is stripped down or beefed up the main element of a song is what holds everything together. This is showcased on 'Under it all, One Life, Denial' and 'Karma' take a life of their own here and their classic 'Black' has a great twist on it and really stands out on the album.
All in all as great as it is for the band to do this and it's great to hear it in all fairness this does fall into the "for completist" category. They pull off what they set out to achieve but It is one for the fans so doing this via the music pledge makes perfect sense. A nice stop gap now they've got it out their systems lets get on to the next rocking album!
