Small engine Repair - Serve Yourself

Serving up something good!

'Serve Yourself' is the first single and title track of Small engine's Repair's new album giving an insight of what we may expect from it. The band hail from Hereford and there is certainly a laid back Country feel to the record with no hustle included. In fact where most of the country are currently heading for higher ground to escape the flood, this record makes you think of a lazy summer day with sunshine and a nice cold drink.

Musically it is well crafted, acoustic guitars and a double bass sound that helps it glide along, giving it that laid back feel I mention. The video is worth checking out too, made up of home movies and a sense of nostalgia that the song also invokes. Is this is the teaser the album should be well worth a listen too.

They have had their praises sung from everybody from Huey Morgan to Cerys Matthews and it is easy to see why, it certainly has a sort of 6 Music  appeal in that it is a tune for people how like their music rather than being told what to like. But that is not to say this will have niche appeal either. I can see this being the start of something big. They will be moving onto bigger engines and certainly stages soon.
