So long until the Seance - Leading the scene of great Irish Horror bands!!!!

August 9th 2022
London, Camden, Underworld, UK

Horror Punk / Rock is alive in London!!!

Dan Devour met up with So long until the Seance at the London, Camden Underworld supporting Misfits guitar legend Doyle, we manged to ask them about their music and which song they would add to the new Rob Zombie 'Munsters' movie if they had the chance.

Music Trespass:  How did all the members of the band meet?

So long until the Seance: Well there has been some drastic line up changes over the years only leaving myself and Tommy D. Bauchery as the sole original members. For the most part we had all played within various other bands in the Belfast music scene over the years so we were aware of everyone from their previous musical outings.

Music Trespass: Why do you think there are so many good Horror artists coming out of Ireland at the moment, we really love an artist called Craven at the moment?

So long until the Seance: Ireland is a country rich in it’s ghosts and spirits and as a people we do love to tell stories and tales. We are famous for our tales of Banshees and of course Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” so it only seems fitting that in this day and age there are more people telling tales of ghouls, spectres and vampires through song as opposed to around a pub table. Craven is a fantastic act that we only had the pleasure of seeing recently when he was touring with Priest and can’t wait for our Halloween shows together later this year. Cadaver Club are another fantastic horror act from these isles but sadly their live shows are few and far between.

Music Trespass: Do you think the World's new found love for Horror movies has helped you as a band?

So long until the Seance: I don’t think so, I think the people who are fans of our band are the people who have always been fans of older, cheesier horror classics. I think you definitely need to have a sense of humour for our stuff, as a band we are definitely the cheap bargain B-Movie VHS choice and we are happy with that.

Music Trespass: You of course are inspired by classic Horror Punk like bands like The Misfits, how excited are you to play with Doyle?

So long until the Seance: Very excited, we have previously had the pleasure of opening up on his previous Irish shows back in 2018 so are thrilled to spend a bit more time with them on this tour. Plus playing the iconic venue, The Underworld in London with another member of The Misfits is just something I never expected when we started the band.

Music Trespass: Other than the bands I have mentioned before, who inspires you?

We all have our various different bands that we take inspiration from and for a Horror band I think that’s probably the best way we could’ve approached this. Too many bands within the scene end up as clones of one another but with us, well for example I would take inspiration from the likes of Blitzkid, Wednesday 13 / Murderdolls and Sister whereas other members would be inspired from various metalcore and deathcore in their playing style, Tommy D.Bauchery being inspired mainly by 80’s Glam and Sleaze which definitely features in a lot of our music.

Music Trespass: If you had the chance to give one of your songs to the new Rob Zombie 'Munsters' movie, which one would you pick and why?

So long until the Seance: Probably 'Prom Night' , it is definitely the most upbeat and comedic song we have and would definately fit in more with the comedy and light heartedness of The Munsters.

Music Trespass: How do you think you will move So long until the Seance music and stage show, forward in the future?

So long until the Seance: We have been demoing for our next album the last few months, hoping to improve on what we have done with our last two releases. We keep having grand ideas and if I had my way we’d have orchestra sections and choirs…however, realistically we are just a bunch of Rock 'n' Roll idiots with limited resources and stage size. So for now we’ll just have to hold off booking the Ulster Orchestra.

Music Trespass: What's next for So long until the Seance?

Hopefully a new album within the year, more gigs in England, Scotland and Wales and with luck on our side maybe we’ll finally get out to Germany or get on a festival to have an opportunity to perform to a larger audience. We have a lot of time to make up for post pandemic.
