So long until the Seance - Making London spooky again!!!
****
Impressive Irish Horror band, make you sing-a-long in London
So long until the Seance **** are a band that a lot of people have been talking about recently, I even met quite a few people outside the London, Underworld that had travelled a long way to make sure they caught their set supporting the legendary Misfits guitarist Doyle. I think over years a lot of people have forgotten about Horror in music, and their seemed to be a fallback on Horror bands. With bands wearing less make up, and not really having a stage presence to go with their music. But in recent years with the love coming back for all things Horror, and of course 'Stranger Things'. People have fallen back in love with the World of Horror music, and the whole Horror genre.
This is led by a wave of awesome Horror inspired acts coming out of Ireland including So long until the Seance, Craven, Munro, and many more. Actually their is a whole vibrant Irish Punk and Metal scene at the moment, and it's nice that some of these bands are coming over to England to play. I actually have seen So long until the Seance before supporting Misfits Ex-Singer Michale Graves, and I thought they were promising... but needed a little work. And I have to say that tonight's performance they fixed a lot of the holes, from the start of the set they just look the part. They look and sound like what a Horror Punk band should look and sound, you can see they really love the genre. And the connection between the band members has really grown, from the last time I saw them.
I am not going to say they are up to headlining a big venue quite yet, they still need a lot of work. But they have put in the foundation, to work their way upto this in the future. And when they break in with opening number the single 'Carol Anne', you know they know how to write a classic Punk / Horror song. So long until the Seance influences are written all over them, this is great but also put's them in a bracket. You can hear Wednesday 13, you can hear The Misfits, you can hear AFI, all bands that I love. So instantanly I have always liked So long until the Seance, but I think if they want to make it really big they would need to put more of their own personalities into the music. And I think this is something they can do, because they can really control an audience. Yes! this is a audience that is hooked to every note, and most of them are hear to see Doyle (Other than a few die hard So long until the Seance Fans).
I think from the start of their set they really have hooked people in, with catchy chorus' and their great stage presence. They ooze fun and likabillity, and you just can't help smiling all through their set. With great songs like 'Dead Boys', 'Prom Night' and 'The Hex'. They show they are not just a great band, they have the songs to back it up. They don't have any fillers, all their songs could be future Horror Punk anthems. This is shown by the fact you can see some people already singing them, and people learning the chorus' quickly so they can join in.
So long until the Seance are really warming up the venue to nice and toastie for Doyle's performance, and that is what you really want from a support band. So many bands put boring support bands on before them, to make them look better. Doyle never does this, he always puts on great bands. I think the World at the moment really is a needs more bands like So long until the Seance, bands that know how to put on a show. So if you want a great night out with your mates, I really do advise you go and see them. Before you will be paying over £35 a ticket, because this band are really going places.
