Sold for Evil - Impress as first act on at the London Underworld!
****1/2
Giving American head Charge a run of their money!
Sold for Evil ****1/2 really impress me for a first act on, they have a great stage presence and they really go all out, ok I will admit some of their live performance does need a little polishing but it is quite in your face. They are a very versatile band that could do any genre of Metal from Death Metal to Nu-Metal with ease, but they look very confident in the music they create
They have hints of early Slipknot, Mudvayne and American head Charge mixed with rap elements like Hollywood Undead or even Vanilla Ice when he went heavy on his 'Hard to Swallow' album. Yes! I did say Vanilla Ice, on that record he met up with X-Snot members to produce a very creditable Rap / Metal record, even Casey Chaos from Amen features on that album. Their is some element of Snot in their too but I think they most remind me of American head Charge.
I think on some points rap vocalist Robert Flaubert could go a little more crazy onstage like keyboard / vocalist Francesco Carta does, I think this is a band that really needs total craziness to be at the top of their game. This is a band with so many different places to go in the industry and I would love to see them progress to the bigger stage rather than opening to a half full venue in London.
Opening up their set with a 'Blast' they instantly make you take note and they have a very interesting cross breed of genres that they seem to pull things out of the hat from. 'White widow without Me' is a big clugger of a track with great rhythmic rapping and steady riffs and is strangely quite catchy until it goes mad with fast double kick drums and a kick off riff. 'Human Error' must be a new track because I can't find much information about it, but I remember it having weird keyboards and a riff that any band would be happy about. The quality of their first album 'Mastering the Beast' is very high so I think the next album will be even better and the standard would be even higher so is one to really look out for.
'Innocentury' which you can watch the video for at the bottom of the page is one of the stand out tracks in their performance and lifts the bands performance up to the next level and makes them even more noticeable. This track has everything you want from a Metal track and reminds me a bit like Mushroomhead in places but even Machine Head... I think would really dig this track, it even could have been done by Dino from Fear Factory's other band Divine Heresy.
They continue with the powerful 'Sacrifice' which is a song with intensity of such a degree it could burn you alive before they go onto last song 'Rise of the Humanization' a popular song that always goes down well which really ends the set with style and confidence.
Francesco goes crazy for last song 'Rise of the Humanization' going into the crowd, he seems like a man really on a mission and that is to scream you down in person and he is a big guy. So I am sure he could do it if he wanted to, but he just makes you want to go onstage and join them in a few verses. This is a band you really need to check out in the future I think they will go from strength to strength and get better and better, they are a unique cross breed and I love what they do.
