Skanking all the way to the bank!

Vans Warped Tour

Sonic boom Six ***1/2 (Jagermeister Stage) are another nice addition to the bill with singer Laila Khan wearing a tight skeleton suit that looks really cool under the light. They mix up Ska with Punk and Rockabilly in a package of fun and a lively stage performance. If you want a skank and a jump around this is a band that you can't miss and they give a good contrast to a bill that has a lot of similar sounding acts on the bill, also the two vocalist thing really works.

Taking influence from early acts in Ska and Ska Punk, Sonic boom Six know how to put on a performance and work the stage really well using up every bit of it. They have taken all these influences really in and you can hear elements of The Specials and even The King Blues, Itch the singer of the second actually playing the Vans Warped Tour on the same stage this weekend.

They open with 'The High cost of Living' off their 2012 self titled album and this really has a Reggae futuristic beat mixed with clean harmonies and PWEI Esq. rapping and really nice melodies. They continue on with 'Virus' the second track tonight and the second track off the same album which is more uplifting and is a dance floor filler with uplifting melodies that sound very similar to The Transplants or even a little bit of Pendulum and it blends well straight into 'Gary got a Gun' also off this album which was their last studio released album and one that really has got them noticed on Kerrang and Scuzz TV.

This is a really short set for them today and they only play two more tracks 'Train leaves Tomorrow' that I don't know that well and the very happy single 'Sunny side of the Street' which starts of really slow and builds up pace a tiny bit, this song is a quite but happy slow song that everyone seems to know the words to. Sonic boom Six are a nice change to so of the other acts on the bill and would really appeal to a great deal of people, mostly girls I would think. So I think this is a band to watch in the future. If this band got the right radio play I could see them laughing all the way to the bank as they rake in all the money from their songs being played on the radio.
