Stone Sour - Corey Taylor impresses for 2nd time in two days
Graspop Festival, Belgium

***1/2

Stone Sour are hitting it hard in the Sun!

Stone Sour ***1/2 deliver a steady set. This is Corey Taylor's second attempt of wowing the Belgium audience watching the main stage. Corey Taylor and Jim Root wowed with their band Slipknot the night before and now Stone Sour break into great newish song of 'House of gold and Bones (Part 1)' this song opens up that album and works as a good opener to a hot and frustrated festival crowd.

They continue with 'Absolute Zero' off the same album this song churns out great riffage and it has a killer guitar solo on it that they shred through like they were born to play it. This is a good steady set from the Iowa boys. Josh Rand really brings good guitar dynamics to the band and makes them look very impressive in the hot sun. 'Mission Statement' sounds a bit like a fast version of Disturbed while 'Made of Scars' is a song that held the test of time and is a secure fan favourite.

It's always good to hear a new song but 'Do me a Favor' off 'House of gold and Bones (Part 2)' seems a bit rushed and lyricly isn't the best song that the band has done. The thing about Stone Sour is their really good but I don't find myself putting their album on when I am at home and I have no idea why with tracks like 'RU486' being really explosive. I think this might be because the band are known for having members of Slipknot in them and they should be known for the great music they make of their own, which sometimes get's over shadowed by the music they make.

It is though nice to hear them try a cover and they pay tribute to Black Sabbath going to number one with '13' with a cover of the classic Sabbath song 'Children of the Grave' and their version is very interesting indeed. Ending their set with first single, the Slipknot Esq. 'Get Inside' which was the song I heard and got me to listen to them in the first place and '30/30-150' you know this is a band that you should listen more to even though their set was not the best I have seen them play live.
