Stoneburner - Talk to Music Trespass about their music!

Music Trespass take a talk with Stoneburner!!!

Joe Denby catches up with the guys from Stoneburner to talk about their devastating new album 'Life Drawing' among other things. Check out this interview because Stoneburner are ones to watch.

Music Trespass: How are you today?

Stoneburner: Been better, been worse.

Music Trespass: Can you tell us about the history of the band?

Stoneburner: The band formed six years ago, the present lineup started three years ago

Music Trespass: Your New album 'Life Drawing' is a stunning piece of work, can you tell us a bit about the making of the album?

Stoneburner: Well, we started writing it as soon as we got out of the studio recording 'Sickness will Pass'. The whole process took quite a while, life kept throwing things at us to only feed the fire. Each songs was its own piece; only when it came down to "how will this fit on vinyl" did we come up with a song order.

Music Trespass: Where did the band come from lyrically on this album?

Stoneburner: Most of our lyrics come from our lives, which seem to constantly try to beat us down. Everything from the day to day grind of working a stupid day job, to our friends deciding they have had enough. We seem to touch a lot on the ways we are individually inept, personal relationships, inner demons, self loathing in general.

Music Trespass: Can you tell us about the artwork? It's pretty eerie!

Stoneburner: Our dear great friend JxJx Shirey is the mastermind behind both our album covers. We have him come to a practice or two, give him some working lyrics and let him go. He'll the start flowing some ideas at us, show us a few sketches and once we have all agreed on a basic theme he comes back with an awe-inspiring painting. We couldn't be more happy with our working relationship with him.

Music Trespass: What are the bands main influences?

Stoneburner: People we hate and hate us, mental illness, alcohol, weed, LSD. Sting is a great influence on us, we don't really listen to or like his music but just the fact he makes it we find really inspiring.

Music Trespass: What's your take on the current state of the music business?

Stoneburner: It's dog eat dog out there, we have been lucky enough to work with two amazing indie labels. We have been really fortunate in these opportunities.

Music Trespass: What else do Stoneburner have planned for 2014? Any tours?

Stoneburner: We have our annual run to the Bay Area with our dear friends Burials in late July.

Music Trespass: What have you been listening to lately?

Pantera, Pinkish Black, Primitive Man, Pink Floyd, Pig Destroyer, Portishead, Public Enemy, Portal. I've just been really digging the letter P lately. (Watching too much Seasame Street we think here at Music Trespass)

Pig Destroyer 'Terrifyer' (Pictured Above)

Music Trespass: Your top five desert island discs?

Stoneburner: Elijah - Pink Floyd 'Pompeii' / Jason - Nick Cave 'Murder Ballads' / Jesse - Mark Lanegan Band Bubblegum / Damon - Pig Destroyer 'Terrifyer'

The whole band would say Melvins 'Stonerwitch'
