Causing a storm in London!

Like a Storm ***1/2 are a great Alternative Rock band from Auckland in New Zealand, they have been making waives with tracks like the brilliant 'Chemical Infatuation, Never Surrender' and the mega single 'Love the way you hate Me'. Their sound goes from Silverchair, Black veil Brides to American Metal bands like Godsmack, HellYeah! and Cold, with even hints of Thirty seconds to Mars in the mix. Like a Storm is a band consisting of three brothers Chris, Matt and Kent Brooks, so keeping it all i the family... and probably the reason they play so tight together (I am a little amazed that three brothers get on so well).

'Never Surrender' does sound like it could have been lifted off a Black veil Brides album and I think this maybe the reason why the BVB fans tonight seem to take to Like a Storm immediately. They really show massive promise and have a sound that could appeal across the genres. Frontman Chris Brooks vocals sound really strong and there is quite a few girls in the audience that seem to have already fallen in love with him as he moves round the stage with determination to impress on his first visit to London.

Last single 'Wish you Hell' is another track that really shows off what Chris can do if he puts his mind to it, and showing hints of what we can maybe expect from him in the future. The low point in the bands set is their almost Cock Rock version of 'T.N.T.' which I really didn't think they needed to put in the set at all, especially when they have so many great songs of their own they could have played. I also think the band don't sound so strong on this song, even though touring drummer Zach Hill really fits into the band like a long lost member and seems to be enjoying himself during it.

They end the set with the brilliant 'Love the way you hate Me', a track that I have been playing loads and has the brilliant Didgeridoo part in it. What niggles me a little that bass player Kent feels the need to announce the instrument in the middle of the song. We all know what it is and it kind of ruins the atmosphere a little. Putting this aside it is one hell of a song and ends the set in a ball of fire... showing people here is the storm and your invited to listen. I think the best is still to come from Like a Storm, So watch this space.
