U2 - Invisible

(CD Single Review)

****

Bono and the crew are back and ready on the attack!!!

U2 are a band I have liked over the years and the material has always stayed interesting with them evolving from album to album, so I was really happy when I heart they were releasing a new single and even better they were giving it to us for FREE. The song starts off with Larry Mullen doing a little drum riff and then into minimal electronic beat reminiscent of Kraftwerk, which bring you onto a soaring chorus which is built up with Bono's vocals backed by The unmistakable guitar sound of The Edge topped with the steady cool bass lines of Adam Clayton.

It's catchy and uplifting and probably one of the best songs they have done in a while. I think we are going to here this track on the radio a lot this summer! it could even be the biggest hit of the summer if the band is lucky. And that is not a bad thing, U2 have been off the radio for too long and we all remember the glory days of albums like the 'Joshua Tree' or 'Achtung Baby' which were albums that can't be ignored. The song really kicks in various points and you can see where bands like The Killers and Coldplay got inspiration for some of the biggest songs from and that is the stylings of U2.

If you are a big U2 fan you will be so happy with this offering because it has everything you want in it. This song in places echoes later material from albums such as 'All you can't leave Behind' and 'How to dismantle an atomic Bomb' but also has something really new, which is show off to it's best potential with the incendiary guitar sound off this record. The single is FREE now to download from iTunes and with every download the Bank of America will donate a dollar to charities to help fight aids so what's to loose? go check it out! and download it and help people out, and you also get a U2 track so what's wrong with you why aren't you going right now.
