Van Morrison - Who is actually headlining Cornbury?

Van gives his headline slot away to Bellowhead!

Van Morrison *** (Pleasant Valley Stage) is headlining but has wanted to come on early so he has swapped places with Bellowhead. Van has never been the friendliest of singers and as he performs in a straw hat surrounded by instruments, you feel he is a little boxed in and it doesn’t really help his performance. He takes you through songs including ‘Brown eyed Girl’ and ‘Moondance’, I have never really been a fan but he makes a lot of people really happy in the crowd. I don’t think they care that he isn’t much to watch all they want to hear is his memorable hits. It’s a shame that he has given away his headline spot because it has kind of confused a lot of people and it kind a brings and anti climax to his set, but at least everyone can catch their last bus home if they don’t want to see his set.

Van hides on stage as a moody recluse and if I had spent my money to see him, I wouldn’t be very pleased and he doesn’t really move or do anything. The one thing I have to say is that everyone has had a good time, so at least he pleased a few. I wouldn’t go to see him but I have never been keen on his songs but if you like him I think you would have enjoyed this. I wouldn’t recommend this to new fans though as a live spectacle because it is a bit disappointing, Especially when he is meant to be headlined. I think Van Morrison fans know what to expect hence why I am giving him three stars, personally I think it probably deserves less.
