Did we enjoy 'Telephone Love'?

The London / Cornwall four piece The Velvet Hands today have released their new single 'Telephone Love', this is Garage Rock, Alternative Rock song. That has attitude to it, and it has the possibility of being the anthem. Like say 'Last Night' by The Strokes or 'Fell in love with a Girl' by The White Stripes. But for me is not quite there yet, I actually prefer their track 'I wanna be There', which reminds me of when The Libertines first came out. Ok all the bands I have compared them to so far, are top festival headlining bands. And I think The Velvet Hands could be up there too, but this is going to take time and a few changes.

I feel this track, like others I have already heard are a little bit sloppy and could be put together better. The whole concepts for the songs are great, and I think they have some great chorus' but some of the miss timing doesn't sound good. Yes! they have done this out of timing on purpose, but they have not quite got it right. This comes out in both the vocals, and the music. They could fix this really quickly wiht a little time and effort, and I really hope they do because I actually really like what I have heard so far. Hopefully this will be fixed on the bands new album 'Sucker Punch' will be released on February the 3rd, 2023.

I also think that The Velvet Hands need to find themselves a little, and that they sound too much at times like other bands. But saying all this, there is something special there... and I can see that this band could go all the way. And I think there will be a lot of people that will fall in love with this band, and independent magazines will be talking about them for years to come. If you love bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Clash, The Libertines and The Hives, you are going to really like this. So give 'Telephone Love' a listen, and make up your own mind.
