Watsky suicide dive out shines We are the Ocean's set!

We are the Ocean *** (East Stage) Their doesn't seem to be a lot of anticipation for WATO this weekend like their used to be and they have the unfortunate delay for them to come onstage after Watsky took a suicide dive off the lighting rig, everyone in the venue thought he was dead but somehow he survived with minor injuries.

The band are consistently similar with all their performances and don't really bring anything to the day. From 'Trouble' which grabs you in a little to 'The Waiting Room' is the possible highlight of the set and that is not really a stand out point to talk about because it's an older song that has been given a new vibe to it. This band are no longer Hardcore in my opinion they are more Post-Punk vibe to them these days so I think they have alienated old fans but gathered a new type of fan because they keep playing bigger venues these days.

I don't think frontman Liam Cromby really has the flamboyancy to keep my attention even though some of the songs are really well written and I think he was more comfortably singing when he wasn't the only vocalist in the band, when Dan Brown also took the helm for screaming vocals. The pair just looked so at home together and worked well hitting off each other and Liam's confidence I feel was far greater. He seem's to now just go all out and looks like he is straining for air at time, because he has the weight of the World on his shoulders.

I think a lot of the new material like 'Young Heart' has a more commercial feel to it and I can see why the new fans like it, I just think maybe this is a band that is just not for me anymore. If you like Bayside or A day to Remember or Fightstar, I think you might like We are the Ocean's new material. I wouldn't go out my way to see them again but if they are on the bill I might check them out again.
