William Control - Brings his dark Electronica to London!

November 2nd 2013
London, Boston Music Rooms, UK

***

Will fans are under his control!

William Control *** is one of my favourite dark Electronic singers but I think he has got a little complacent at some of his live shows in the last few years, sitting back a little with his live performances but keeping his dark swagger and cool appearance while delighting crowds. Will Francis (Aka William Control) the former singer of Emo / Punk / Hardcore band Aiden has a haunting voice that sends shivers down your spine when you listen to him and has lyrics that are really meaningful unlike a lot of singers that are around now who just sing about nonsense.

From the moment you hear his spoken word intro you are left with some anticipation for his upcoming live Darkwave extravaganza, The bass kicks in and Will bursts into the first verse of 'New World Order (A new kind of Faith)' off the EP 'Novus ordo Seclorum' which for me is one of my favourite releases by Will Francis. Will's live show like a lot of Electronic acts these days is run off the backing track with only the bass being live. Zombie Nicolas also X-Aiden used to do the bass duties for William Control but it's now done by Kenneth Fletcher when they are on tour in the UK, While in the US most of the time he has a full band.

The audience for tonight's show at the London, Boston Music Rooms is full of familiar faces to Will, with fans of his music coming back time after time to see him. I think this is because once you get into his music you are a fan for life. 'Kiss me Judas' works really well tonight and so does 'My lady Dominate' which both are new fan favourites. 'The Velvet warms and Binds' is dark and mysterious and has haunting undertones and the backing melody really stands out and shows why he made a video for it not to long ago, this song grows on you the more you listen to it. This song also really kicks in and the chorus is really big so this song flows really well around the venue walls.

He ends the set with four of his biggest songs, three of which from 'Hate Culture' William's most popular album 'Beautiful Loser, Strangers' and 'Razor Edge' all of which are big sing a long tunes and can't fail every time they are played. As well as a very special reworked version of 'London Town' especially done for the show tonight and not played at any other show. This is quite special and probably the best moment of the set, which he then ends with new song 'I'm only human Sometimes' which ends the set with style. This is not his best show but maybe that is only because of the high standards he has set before, would like to see him go all out to impress next time he comes over.
