Dirty Grind Rap is brought to this years Fusion Festival

Wretch 32 **1/2 (Aka Jermaine Scott Sinclair) is one of the most talked about Urban stars of the last two years. Coming out of Tottenham in London he is bring a bit of American Rap flare to the UK and showing that the UK have something to offer along with Chipmunk, Haringey and new R&B star Jacob Banks who played earlier today on the Fusion Festival bill.

Today he is a little out of place in my eyes on the bill even though both Jacob Banks and Labyrinth are both on the bill. He is just a little too dirty and underground for the clean slick Pop festival and you wonder if some of the mothers in the audience would actually want their kids listening to Wretch 32. He talks about a lot of adult subjects in his songs and some of the sexual references are just a little inappropriate with kids as younger that twelve in attendance at the concert, wanting to see acts like The Wanted and Union J.

One of the songs that really grabs on this is 'Traktor' with his low down dirty performance, getting people talking in the Birmingham crowd. This is music that would be perfect played in the seedy clubs in Digbeth and would go down a real treat possible packing the venue.

I would advise him to play one of these clubs or the HMV Institute because he would go down better than anyone. He get's all sentimental for a very average version of 'Don't Go' with an ordinary backing singer harmonizing with him and his band looking like they have been dragged out from the dull que to play with him today. They are quite good though and add elements of Funk and Jazz to his performance with Rock tendencies, so I think Wretch 32 must have picked these out himself.

He is joined on one song by up and coming R&B star Jacob Banks who does their hit single 'Doing Ok' together, to the delights on on lookers. I think Wretch 32 has talent and he has a dark flair to him but when he does a killer version of his single 'Blackout', you realise that he is really Grind and from the streets and probably been working hard all of his life to get where he is now. This was just the wrong atmosphere for him, he will have better moments else where, if you like dirty R&B check out Wretch 32.
