Death Destruction - II
***
Swedish Groove Metal band Death Destruction return with a second album.
Death Destruction have been in existence for a decade now, judging from the members CV's' it looks like the the band started life as a side project and it looks like now this is their priority. II is the second full length from the band and the first release with new front man Tony Jelencovich who has a pretty big body of work behind him already as well. He goes from Mike Patton clean vocals to Ivan Moody / Phil Anselmo screams and growls.
It actually sounds like it should have come out of America in 2000!, Yes it sounds like a Nu Metal album. Now as much disdain there is for that genre today it's biggest bands are still going and Death Destruction could easily give Five finger death Punch a run for their money. 'Money, Blood, Crucifixion' with it's Southern style riff and it's bouncy chorus will now go down well at festival's. It's refreshing to hear a Swedish band not have the typical Gothenburg sound.
'Towards the Light' has a Grungy feel and showcases Tony's vocals he is quite an accomplished singer. 'Give it a Try' is another fine example of the bands groove core which brings back to mind the late 90's. There's a few (well more then a few!) second hand Pantera riff's in there too but hey, lets not hold it get too picky. It's not for everyone but the audience the band appeal to will love it. If 'Adrenaline' is still your favorite Deftones album, if you love Hellyeah! or Five finger death Punch then as this band says "Give it a try"!.
