The Rezillos are finally back again!

The first album release by The Rezillos since their seminal debut 'Can’t stand The Rezillos' during the first explosion of Punk in the late 1970’s, 'Zero' will be previewed during a UK tour with The Stranglers in March. The Rezillos formed in Edinburgh in 1976. Although emerging at the same time as other bands in the Punk Rock movement, they did not share the nihilism or social commentary of some of their contemporaries.

Taking a less serious approach to their songs, they preferred to describe themselves as simply "A New Wave Beat Group". Released in July 1978, their sole studio album to date is recognised as a classic of the first wave of British Punk. 'Can't stand the Rezillos' was released on Sire Records and included the top twenty hit Top of the Pops, which they performed on the show of the same name. It also featured their version of 'Somebody’s gonna get their head kicked in Tonight' which featured decades later in ‘Jackass, The Movie’.

Reaching No.16 in the UK album chart, Punk aficionados continue to acclaim it to this day. All time top one thousand albums named it one of the fifty best Punk albums of all time, describing it as "exuberant almost to the point of hysteria" and "a body of work full of verve, style and humour". In 2003, Mojo magazine also ranked the LP in its 'Top fifty Punk Albums'.

It is well documented that the group split up just four months after the album was released, securing themselves iconic status as a result. Co-Vocalists Eugene Reynolds and Fay Fife quickly formed The Revillos, in part taking the existing musical vision and acquiring a fanatical cult audience. Meanwhile guitarist and main songsmith Jo Callis joined The Human League and subsequently co-wrote many of that band’s best known songs at the height of their success.

The Rezillos eventually reformed in the early 00’s after being invited to play at the Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh and they have continued to perform sporadically ever since, releasing occasional new singles but never another album….until now. Featuring a dozen songs that include the singles 'Number one Boy' and 'Out of this World', the brand new 'Zero' consolidates their reputation for creating timeless, iconic music, with the listener constantly reminded of their ability to pick up the corpse of 60's Pop culture and re-animate it in a blaze of dayglo brilliance.
