Discharge take you to a violent 'End of Days' !!!

One of the UK’s most important bands return with a new album with a new vocalist and under a new label! The bands influence goes without saying over punk and metal, Whenever a band release an album with bonus tracks you can bet bottom dollar there will be a Discharge cover. Metallicas James Hetfield even has a Discharge patch on his jacket that he wears regularly onstage.

I have to admit I haven’t been fussed about new material from the band for a long time, you know what you’re getting for better or worse but I was curious when the news broke of their new singer JJ Janiak joining the fold and the energy he brought to the band’s live performances. With a live album with the band under his belt already he has settled into the role perfectly, barking over the album like somewhere between a British Lou Koller and the bands “Classic” front man Cal.

The band is on fine form. A new front man and new label has obviously inspired them, they sound reinvigorated and as fresh as ever. The production strikes the perfect balance of rawness and clarity. The songs are fast and furious and short, just the way you want them. 'Hatebomb' and 'The Terror Alert' are instantly recognizable and catchy as hell; they fall back into a mid paced gallop on 'Infected'.

These songs sound like classics already and will seamlessly fit into the bands live set among the old favorites.'Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing' is a classic and can never be bettered but this album sits up next to it and compliments it wonderfully. Play the two albums back to back and no way does it sound like thirty four years have passed! 'End of Days' sees Discharge back at their best and delivering a later day classic which will please the old schoolers and win over a new generation of fans
