Alestorm - It's drinking time!!!
****1/2
Get me to the bar... it's Alestorm
Alestorm ****1/2 - This bunch of lunatics is best described as Captain Jack Sparrow meets Pantera. A fun to watch band originating from Perth in Scotland, they certainly do grab your attention and drag you into their set... if you like it or not.
A mix of classic heavy riffs and pounding drums mixed with a medley of guitar and keyboard melodies, these pirate brigands are signed with Napalm Records.
The powerful vocals of Christopher Bowes range from metal screams to folk and sea shanties, all whilst wearing a bra thrown to him by the crowd. A huge loyal following wearing everything from pirate clothes to inflatable boats cheered and sa.ng as all their favourites, 'Drink', 'Keelhauled' and 'Nancy the Tavern Wench' were belted out.
Our mascot Ray here at Music Trespass particularly like the Alestorm cover of the Pirates of the Sea song 'Wolves of the Sea', which they actually played in their Hammerfest set. They also go all mainstream with a cover of Taio Cruz's 'Hangover', so it's a real party in Wales
Also their new track 'Mexico' was well received, and I am sure is going to be a future classic. The crowd response to the band is as entertaining as the band and hard to avoid joining in "Somebody pass the Rum".
