White noise Radio - Dawning

Why havn't I heard of this act before?

'Dawning' is the new single by White noise Radio, a Alternative Rock band from Bristol. They have a really nice melodic sound to them, that reminds me of a cross between Stabbing Westward and Katatonia. They have a chilled vibe to them, and the songs are really well written and put together. They say in their about section that they sound like Opeth, Karnivool and Tool, I can't really see this in their sound. 

They also say Porcupine Tree, which is a little more like it, maybe with a more Indie Rock version of Marillion added into the mix. The good thing to say about White noise Radio is that you feel comfortable with them like they are an old friend that you can't remember the name of. Or your favourite pair of slippers, that you leave in the middle of your living room... while you watch the tv.

I can't work out if this is a good or bad thing, but I really do think they have something. But I really can't put my finger on, maybe if they changed a few little things they would have it and maybe they could be a big mainstream Alternative Rock / Progressive Rock act. Maybe the band put their influences down as Tool, because of Maynard James Keenan's other project A perfect Circle... which they are more similar too.

Some of the guitar work in places reminds me of Billy Howerdel of this band, and really ends 'Dawning' off well... sounding like it's a track off 'Mer de Noms'. Added with the Tesseract esq. vocals, this track is a great Rock song. I would love to hear more from this band in the future, I really think they are going somewhere. White noise Radio are a promising new British Alternative Rock act.
