Reuben - Will re-release classic album
Jon Pearce and Jamie Lenman met through their guitar teacher and played in a series of bands from their early teens until finally teaming up with Mark Lawton, a drummer from the school they all attended, to form Reuben. They played as many shows as they could and recorded an EP 'Pilot' in 2001, which was released to good notices on a local indie label. After a long touring and writing period with new drummer Guy Davis, the trio released a string of indie singles which took MTV and Radio 1 by storm, and eventually inked a deal with Xtra Mile.
The band built up a loyal following with their explosive live shows and innovative videos and after a long gestation their debut 'Racecar is racecar Backwards' was released in 2004. This was followed in 2005 by 'Very fast very Dangerous', in amidst tours with scene buddies Biffy Clyro, Hundred Reasons and Fightstar. After a stint in Europe with heroes Billy Talent they set up their own label to release their DVD movie 'What happens in Aldershot stays in Aldershot', before heading in to the studio to record their third and final album. 'In Nothing we Trust' was released in 2007 to critical acclaim and was marked by a triumphant main stage set at Download. The band, always honest about the double jobs they had to work to keep the music going, embarked on a few final tours to support the record and imploded from exhaustion in 2008.
Since the split the band's appeal and reputation has grown, and a 2009 compilation of B-Sides and rarities, as well as anniversary editions of their first two albums, have been well received. The question of a reunion is forever bandied about but shows no sign of becoming reality - Pearce and Davis are now performing in Rock supergroup Freeze the Atlantic, and after a long break from music, Lenman is now releasing records and touring under his own name.
