Big River - Riding the river of Rock

The Rock wave has arrived courtesy of the Big River

Big River **** have been making huge waves this year, so their greatly anticipated support slot to Little Caesar at the Camden Underworld in London was one I was really looking forward to. Big River the product of Damo Fawsett (Slam Cartel / Reagan Brown Band) is a band I personally have been keeping an eye on for quite a while now, and they didn't disappoint me at all.

Damo Fawsett of course is the lead guitarist of the band, who is joined by Adam Bartholomew (Vocals), Ant Wellmann (Bass) and new editions to the band in the form of Paul Martin (Guitar) and Joe Martin (Drums). No not the same Joe Martin who used to play for Millwall, now at Stevenage... son of football legend Alvin Martin (West Ham United / Leyton Orient).

Big River’s new line up absolutely smashed it and left the crowd wanting more with their style of British Blues Rock. We at Music Trespass are hoping for a full album soon, so watch this space for a review. Highlights of the set is the cracking 'Hometown Hustler' and a rip roaring rendition of Deep Purple's 'When a blind man Cries' (from their EP 'The West Sessions') an epic show stopper which bought open mouths and howls of gratitude and applause from the crowd.

On certain songs you can hear the sound that Damo brought to all his other bands the Blues / Classic Rock is certainly alive... and his guitar playing is better than ever. Big River are quite some band to be opening at the London, Underworld in Camden Town. But tonight's show is a star line-up with Marco Mendoza up next and headliners Little Caesar closing the show.

Ok the set is way too short, but they are the first band on. I would love to see them headlining, because they were one of the main reasons I wanted to go to this show. This is a band that is well worth seeing live, and I look forward to seeing them again, a great Rock opening to an evening.
