Can you believe that it has not been long since Kylie Minogue brought us 'Golden', a sure fire No.1 on the official UK charts. The Country comeback for Kylie really has delivered one of her finest, emotive works to date. Here is our review track by track for the album 'Golden'... so check out what I thought of the record. 'Dancing' as comebacks go has a kick ass Country twang written all over it. Not your conventional Country sounding record to be granted, and very conventional for a certain Miss Minogue. Showcasing the Dance / Pop / Country genre. Instantaneous on its first listen, the recording almost sounding live as though Kylie was jamming in Nashville in places.

'Dancing' with its rustic feel and Kylie’s crisp vocal, is a great track indeed. And on a extra plus side fans have been treated to the equally polished retro remix from Initial Talk who really has taken the track back to the old days, remember the O’Jays 'Stepped back in Time'. 'Stop me from Falling' the second release from 'Golden' continues with the guitar intro yet this track has more hooks than a fishing man club as its smoothers from country guitar strumming along an Avicii (Who has sadly just passed away) summer style banger, and though instantaneous on first listen, the sheer strength of the album has had this being a clear favourite of mine.

Somewhere in the middle of 'Golden', I have to admit that on first few listens... I think it even has a Shakira style intro woo’s that didn’t grab my attention at first sight. But I am not sure what happened after, but I found myself singing along to this in my sleep. So to me this means it's catchy, I can imagine in time this becoming one of the albums highlights with its it’s hook of build up as it leads to a catchy chorus”. 'A lifetime to Repair' a surprise favourite from 'Golden' and the first real taste of Nashville, as Kylie story tells the verses into a delicious countdown from six, five.... delivering a not so obvious chorus but a thigh tapping, link arms and dance around circles sing-a-long, sublime, mature and what you would expect from someone who has aged gracefully in the music business over thirty years.

'Sincerely Yours' a mesmorising ballad is thought emotive, the most updated sound so far on 'Golden' with a massive hook as the chorus folds, “This is Au-Revoir I won’t go that far” reminds me in parts of the key change to Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' yet better, and I love 'Torn'. This stunning ballad really does tell a tale as Kylie sweet vocals continue to tell “This is not the end I’ll come back again”, and that my friends she has. 'One last Kiss' is 'Golden’s' version of 'The One' you can almost hear the synths if you imagine hard enough. This deliciously tap along Country track really does prove that Kylie hadn’t spoilt us with the finest offerings from this album prior to its release, single number four anyone? Smooth and effortless.

You feel Kylie is spreading her voice like caviar on the finest cracker... like on 'Live a Little' an impressive gymnastic style guitar chord intro, the country infused loses its fusion as the track u-turns into a club goes kick ass, losing the essence of the track and what could of been much more special. Yet like most of the 'Golden' album is all about fusion and this does sit pretty and fits nicely into the albums theme, which I simply love. 'Shelby ’68' again on first listen I wasn’t hooked, though it was cute, it felt Kylie was more first gear than cruising in her Shelby 68... yet a few more listens and this cute, simple motor really does give a little crunch on that clutch, highlight.

Kylie’s extra naughty vocal as she enhances the way she pronounces each line and the “Kylie does talk” middle eight, hello Minogue. The impossible Princess era is nearly upon us. 'Radio On' a track that I was half expecting to be an upbeat number, yet as the chords strum into an easy to follow vocal. Kylie on this is at her story telling best, beautifully delivered as you listen to each and every word, and though at first this ballad didn’t have me reaching for the radio on... sometimes its about less is more and after again a few listens the simplicity truly has created another standing ovation for Kylie and one of her finest ballads. With lines like “I really need a love song to rescue me, a love song that I believe”, this is a well put together track. 'Love' is a matter of taste, as Kylie extenuates each word as she delivers another happy, clappy Country number, yet as each line builds up to another “KEY” the guitar rift sound more Coldplay than Country Kylie.

It's Kylie though and you can imagine this track to be a grower than an instant shower what with lines such as “Lying in your lovers t-shirt”, you can almost feel the musicians enthusiasm as they go from verse to chorus. 'Raining Glitter' welcome back to another 'Golden' moment (Mind the Pun), it’s not hard to hear why this track was released the week before the album. It has the right amount of Country, with the right amount of Pop, right amount dramatics, and Kylie sounding amazing and singing about “Glitter” ... what more do you want from the Pop Princess. This is the 'Your Disco needs You' of 'Golden' and is as camp as it gets with its “Woo”.

'Music’s to sad without You' is if 'Where the wild Roses Grow' was rewritten, this breath taking ballad delivers just that yet with a little more of a kick than her stunning 1995 single with Nick Cave. This ballad features similarities to say track as both Kylie and Jack Savoretti story tell against a musical backdrop of guitar, pianos, drums entwining alongside their vocal’s. 'Lost without You' see's the impossible Princess with a higher BPM, with lines such as “All Glitter and tears” and “Let my make up run” this solid sing along chorus opens with “I wanna get lost without you”, again the first of four tracks featured on the additional 'Golden' release seem less Country and more sounds and synths and vocoda, with laughter, backing vocals and even a 1990’s style “Talking Kylie” delicious elements makes this “The dance track” on the album.

'Every little part of Me' turns 'Golden' more Dance as Kylie whips of the Stetson and reverbs into shape, it is quite simply an easy to tap along, move to dance affair as the track goes from verse to chorus over a modern style dance beat. This track by far is the most current in the sense of what radio one seems to be playing these days, and our Kylie doesn’t shy away from continuing with trends with the track totally earning its vital place within the album, even if it is as an addition. 'Rollin’' with a tinge of Nashville the track sounds like a return to side one of 'Golden' with its hand clapping, woo’s yet as 'Rollin' kicks in so those the banging club amp, on first listen feeling the two opposites didn’t quite hit the spot.

But like most things Kylie, on listen number two and three you can see exactly why they do work and you wouldn’t be to surprised to hear this sound in the 2018 charts. 'Low Blow' is Kylie Minogue back with the Scissor Sisters, if only but this has all the ingredients to Kylie’s X. Yet ten years on and this sound is still as fresh as it was back then. This is cute Kylie with a “Country (Tongue) & Cheek” as her “Wooo Ohh” can’t say No” cutsie, catchy, credible, current and one to watch.
