Anchor Lane - Taking the UK Rock scene by storm!!!
Talking to Anchor Lane, your new favourite Scottish band!!!
We caught up with Rock hopefuls Anchor Lane, a few days before their performance at the Stone Free Festival.
Music Trespass: What is the Rock scene like in Glasgow, and who is your favourite Scottish band?
Anchor Lane: The Rock scene is currently thriving in Glasgow!, it’s a great time for young Rock bands to come through and get noticed. We couldn’t name a favourite band as there are so many but our friends in Black King Cobra, The King Lot, The Sunny Devils and Darkness Divine would be naming a few.
Music Trespass: Your new EP is called 'New Beginning', is this a new beginning for you... what did you do before Anchor Lane?
Anchor Lane: The EP was named ‘New Beginning’ as we had went through some lineup changes from the band’s conception. This was to signify the lineup we were moving forward with and intend on keeping, before Anchor Lane we were all at college together studying music at the Glasgow Academy of Music and Sound.
Music Trespass: The production on your track 'Finished for Twelve' is really strong, you can hear all the instruments so clearly, who produced it and how do you think you got your sound out best in the studio?
Anchor Lane: The EP was self produced but it was recorded, mixed and mastered by James Mackenzie from Soundshape Productions in Greenock. James was an excellent engineer to work with, he really captured our sound! It’s all live amps, live drums and live vocals no studio trickery here.
Music Trespass: What do you think you deliver different from the bands you are influenced by, and how do you think you will evolve as a band?
Anchor Lane: The thing that we are constantly told after a show is how enthusiastic we are. We’re not a band that hides behind a “cool” facade. We can’t help but smile when on stage. We write collaboratively and always keep the writing honest and try to do things differently from what we’ve done in the past. The song comes first for us and egos are put to one side. We want to keep moving in that direction.
Music Trespass: I think your sound will really appeal to the American audience, have you been over there and if not are you going to tour the US?
Anchor Lane: Other than Scott none of have even been to the US unfortunately, But it’s definitely on the to do list. Watch this space.
Music Trespass: You’re playing the Stone Free Festival and some other really big festivals, how do you think it will be different to play than your usual venue shows?.
Anchor Lane: We played Download festival last weekend. The difference between playing a hometown show and a festival is not knowing your audience before you play, something you rehearse to do on stage to a festival crowd can be a bit of a stab in the dark. Also the atmosphere of a festival is different. We have found that festival crowds are more accepting of a new band than that of a crowd who are waiting for the headline act.
Music Trepass: What is next for Anchor Lane?
Anchor Lane: Sign up to our mailing list to find out first. *Wink* www.Anchorlanemusic.com - After the summer festival season is over we’ll be working towards our debut album. We’ll also be playing Hard Rock Hell and Winterstorm in November, come see us.
