Yukon Era - Kiwis impress with new video!!!
Post-Punks have the knives out in their new video
Post-Punks Kiwis Yukon Era are back with the video for their recently released single ‘Knife Skies’. Taken from their upcoming debut album slot for release in 2019, the new cut follows the recent release of their single ‘Feel’. This song saw support from the likes of Clash, Gigslutz and little indie blogs, among others. With a musical maturity beyond their years, Yukon Era craft slices of Post-Futuristic Punk... celebrating their influences with a sound that is both familiar and new.
With similarities to their British peers Idles and Shame, their songwriting is heavily influenced by the past, their tight rhythmic arrangements and dynamics take from Proto Math Rock bands like June of 44, Polvo and Don Caballero. Whilst singer Christian Dimick’s poignant lyrics and monotone vocals explore existential alienation.
Embodying the band DIY approach, the four friends have recently made their mark on the international music scene, with performances including this year’s Great Escape festival, and headlining shows around the UK. Carving out a name for themselves within their local music scene as the youngest band to perform at Australia’s most iconic festival St Jerome’s Laneway, as well as creating the Auckland's coolest all ages festival Ageold, the boys have extensively toured New Zealand as headliners, notched up opening slots for big international acts including Mac Demarco, Japandroids, Viet Cong and Metz.
The band even completed a fifteen date New Zealand / Australia tour, selling out four shows in New Zealand in support of their single ‘Tongue’, which reached No.3 on the New Zealand Alternative charts, while their first two EP's were supported by the likes of Noisey, Tone Deaf, Sniffers, The Wireless, and culminating with by Impose Magazine naming them as one of the top eight Kiwi guitar bands. Freshly inked to Australasia most successful independent publishing company Mushroom Music Publishing, Yukon Era will be back on the road in autumn, touring Australian and New Zealand before coming back to the UK. With more exciting news to be announced soon, the band’s upcoming debut album will establish them as a real force to be reckoned with.
