3Teeth - Impressive Industrial Metal comes to town
*****
The new kings of Industrial have been crowned
3Teeth ***** If you are not too familiar with this band, well you will be shortly. The Los Angeles, California band take their influences from the bands that came before them in the Industrial Metal genre, 3Teeth take influence from the likes of Nine inch Nails (NIN), Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. But at the same time adding their own special something into the mix, you can even hear elements of Orgy, Marilyn Manson, Tim Skold and Sulpher in the mix. All these are my favourite bands, so I was surely going to love 3Teeth from the moment I heard them years ago. And was lucky to catch their shows when they have played in the UK before.
3Teeth last time they played London, played the Electrowerkz and the legendary venue of the London, Shepherds Bush, o2 Empire was a huge step up from there. This time round though they are supporting Industrial legends Ministry, and the question is could they make the huge step up and compete with Ministry. Well we found out tonight that they can, they blew Ministry right off stage with a really impressive performance. Making people not disappointed that they are missing Rammstein, in Milton Keynes tonight.
One of the things that most stand out about 3Teeth is the appearance and presence of their singer Alexis Mincolla who looks like no other, and is going to be I am sure crowned one of the best Industrial singers of the last twenty years. If he has not already taken the title, if this is what 3Teeth can do three albums in... then what can they do in the future. 'Metawar' is a slight move on from their last album '<shutdown.exe>', and quite different in places from their debut self titled album.
One of the other highlights is when Alexis asks the audience what they want to hear, and a fan requested 'Pit of Fire', which mixes a variety of heavy and light melodic distorted vocals with great melodies and passion. 3Teeth finish off their set with the dark brooding number 'Master of Decay', which is one of the bands anthems. I think this was a great support slot for 3Teeth and they really showed Ministry and the audience what they are made of.
