10 Plagues - Are a band to see live!!!
****1/3
Play a flawless London headline show
10 Plagues **** are one of the most exciting new bands around at the moment, coming out of Brighton and consisting of Hauron Kherty (Mechanized Dirge) on Vocals, David Tobin (Red Method / Ex-Meta-Statis) on Guitar and Jamie Holloway on Guitar, plus various musicians in the live arena. In recent years I have to say I have been going off a lot of Death Metal bands, that seemed to go more towards to intensity than actual songs. Well I have to say 10 Plagues have both the intensity and tracks that really speak to you and stand out, they are the full package you want from a Death Metal band. They verge even on Metalcore and Grimecore in moments, and have a great live stage presence.
I think their sound is the way forward for Extreme Metal bands, and they have a great image around them. Singer Hauron comes on like a mutant Zombie as he rocks back and forth to the sound of 'The Valley of all Sufferings' a killer opening track, and the right way to get the evening going. The band really fill the whole Black Heart stage, and there is so much to watch. Exactly what you want from a headlining band, and 10 Plagues are a band that should be headlining much bigger venues, with more people talking about them. They are at the moment kind of a secret of the London, underground Metal scene... which is ready to be launched into the mainstream.
10 Plagues are really a future Behemoth, and you really can't believe that David Tobin is producing such great Metal music at the moment. He is destroying the World with Red Method, and now he is doing the same with 10 Plagues. God knows what he is going to do next, but whatever it is... I want to be a long for the ride. The set is filled with complexed guitar sequences, and melodies the chug-a-long like a fast moving battle ship. While the Zombie singer deteriorates before your eyes, and you wonder when he won't be there anymore.
As they burst into one of my favourite tracks 'Dead skin Mask' you know this band have something special, and you can see why a lot of my friends have been talking about them. I know they really impressed when they supported Malevolent Creation on their UK tour, which is a great sign for a band going places. Other great moments in the bands set included closure 'Birth of Ignorance', 'The Grotesque harvest Souls' and 'There were demons in Me', which you can listen to at the bottom of this page. But so many moments in their set could be highlights in a set that goes by too fast, but I guess they have not got that many songs yet... because they are a newish band.
