Flogging Molly - Bring a touch of the Irish flavour to the Vans Warped Tour!
***1/2
A little bit of fun to end the London Vans leg!
Vans Warped Tour
Flogging Molly ***1/2 (Jagermeister Stage) bring the Irish connection to the Jagermeister stage, but I am sure they would rather have a Guinness than a Jagermeister. Singer Dave King says he can't stand Jagermeister and he just wants to drink the black stuff, I think this is from his Celtic roots in Hollywood California. Their set today is a good steady and the crowd go crazy for them with loads of Irish flags being carried by loads of members of the audience.
They run through a set of some of their most popular material including 'The Kilburn High Road' which is funny because I am always walking down it when I go to stay with my aunt in London. My friends really love this band and are having a wail of a time but for me their is something missing, I actually want it to be even more lively and frantic. You know the type of performance when your pint ends up all over you rather than in your mouth where it should be.
'Drunken Lullabies' is one of the high points of the bands set, that's because this band are a drinking band and you need a few points to truly enjoy them. So by the time they get to this song everyone is really merry and really wants to enjoy their set. I think maybe though this band have been playing too many shows or not had a break in a long time, because they look really tired once. I once said to the Cancer Bats you can't go playing shows non stop and think that it's not going to effect your live show.
They close with 'Seven deadly Sins' with everyone screaming for more, but they do not come back on. This is a hard working band for a hard working man, and in the end everyone enjoyed their performance so what do I know. If your a fan of bands like Dropkick Murphy's and Rancid you will love this so I would say go see Flogging Molly. I would though bring a few pints with me next time rather than working the show and have them with my friends and just have a good time.
