Flatland Cavalry - Rock the South goes traditional
***2/3
A friendly family vibe!!!
(Rock the South - Festival - Day 3)
Flatland Cavalry ***2/3 are another up and coming band from Texas, whose music reflects both Country / Folk with an edge of old Blues.Yes! the pay homage to the Americana genre, loving everything traditional. Like the sounds of being on the farm providing for your family, with a twang and pluck of the guitar. With a glass of beer, in a field or a barn. Flatland Calvary set the scene, for a traditional outing, from start to finsh. A set of classic music, from a band that embraces everything classic... but at the same time giving their songs their own flare.
With the energy of thousands of fans, singing to the hearts content. This Texas band embrace their surroundings and are out to give the Rock the South festival audience, a collection of their best materials. With a friendly embrace of love and peace, like you are viewing an old family VHS home video. Hearing well put together songs like their single 'The Provider', which you can watch the video for at the bottom of this page. And their cover of the John Denver brilliantly titled track 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy', which is a real highlight for me in the bands set.
These humble Folk, give a sense of fun and enjoyment to any festival and live show. It's a barn party, and you are all invited. So if you see they are playing on a bill, put on your dancing Cowboy boots and get ready to swing your hips and join in. And 'Let it Roll', because Flatland Cavalry will show you what 'Country Is...' and you will be happy with that. If this all was not enough for your Traditional Country tastes buds, then get ready because they take things up with two great cover versions. The John Denver song 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy', which I mentioned before and 'Landslide' by Fleetwood Mac. Before they end things on a real dancefloor track, the toe tapping 'Stompin Grounds'.
