Warren Zeiders - Exciting set from WZ!!!
****1/3
Tall, Dark and Handsome!!!
(Rock the South - Day 1)
Warren Zeiders ****1/3 The second to last act on Day 1 of Rock the South was Warren Zeiders, I have to say he is really Mr.Tall, Dark and Handsome. Who has the ability of making all the women go wild, and this happens from the moment he takes to the stage. Born in Hershey Pa now living in Nashville Tn, this twenty four year old was noticed by posting his covers on Tick Tock, and these songs were gathering a lot of hits... so it was a no brainer for a record company to sign him.
Taking the stage with a black tshirt black jeans and a cowboy hat, he was ready to Rock the South and Rock the stage. Kicking off his set with 'Up to no Good' you know this is going to be a good set, and the audience is lapping up every minute of it. Warren kept teasing the audience by saying he would take his shirt off, but this is not a Magic Mike show,. This is a magic Warren show, and yes! he did cast his spell. Well mostly on the women of the audience, but I think that made the guys want to be him as well. Because he looked cool, can Rock a song and had the ladies in the palm of his hand. The ladies did in the end get what they want, because the shirt did finally come off after a couple more songs.
I think Warren must have had a lot of hurt in his life, because he has song titles like 'Painkiller', 'Heartbreaker', 'Weeping Willow', 'Relapse', 'Never look Back' and 'Betrayal'. I think it is a good thing to put the events of your life into songs, and sometimes the pains in life are the best ones to write about. But I think with great songs like these, Warren is soon going to have some happiness in his life. Because he is going to be able to tour for years to come, because the Country music he is creating is so good. And the way he moves round the stage is well past his years, he has learned from watching the greats of Country and Rock and is going to use it for his advantage.
An absolute favorite of the night was 'Pretty little Poison', which is the last of Warren's original material he plays in his set... before his covers section. This is such a well put together brilliant song, and you can see why so many people like it. And it already has thirty two million views on YouTube, showing he really is an artist that is going places. And that a lot of people have been listening to this paticular track, so it is only a matter of time until he is a megastar. I do think it's a mistake to end your set with cover versions, the final song should be one of your biggest or most popular songs. Especially at a festival, I don't know if this is because of a lack of confidence in his own material.
Well he doesn't have to worry about that, because his material is really good. Well let's talk about the covers he did pick 'Enter Sandman' and 'Ride the Lightning' by Metallica tand the Alice in Chains track 'Man in the Box'. Actually this is one of my personal favourite tracks by the Grunge pioneers Alice in Chains, and it worked very well with Warren's style. It also showed that he has many strings to his bow, and that he can do whatever he wants.I guess it's not a new thing though for him to be doing covers, because he did get noticed on Tick-Tock for doing this. So maybe this is why he ends with some covers, and it's not a confidence thing at all. We managed to cover him in the US, but we will hopefully cover him too... when he comes to the UK. I think he is an exciting artist, and the best is still to come from Warren Zeiders.
