Pylo - Bellavue
***1/2
An atmospheric more moody Coldplay is born!
This starts off with the very quiet 'View' which starts off a little like a Jeff Buckley song would with quiet acoustic guitar notes and a haunting voice courtesy of Matt Aldus. The voice is very strange and very distinctive It picks up in a Coldplay anthem Esq. way with twiddly atmospheric guitars, this is actually a very good opening song to an EP. Second track is their debut single 'Enemies' is slightly more commercial than 'View' but keeps with the big build up's and higher and lower vocal harmonies and atmospheric sound. This song you could imagine being played at a festival and everyone singing every word. In places I think some of the parts aren't right in the mix so it doesn't blend as well as it could, but that would not take much to fix.
I feel I have heard the track 'Crying on the Land' before but I cannot remember where. This starts of really slow with a very nice melody like the other two tracks and the vocals are strongest on this track and it is much better put together, you could hear this on the radio on a hot summers day chillin by the beach or while sitting under a tree with the autumn breeze blowing through your hair. Pylo really have their own sound I think if I heard another track I would know straight away it was by them, this is a good thing some bands take years to develope their sound and Pylo have already done this. Final track 'Bare Eyed' is a great closer it has the feel of an ending track it just has a build up that is kind of leading to a finale with the lift of the guitar sound as it goes into later on in the track. This band are worth a listen and would appeal to some many people so if you like atmospheric moody Rock / Indie this is a band you must check out.
