Chiodos - Get hot and sweaty at the Water Rats!

Bringing on the anticipation for the new album!

Chiodos ***** Today's performance at the London Water Rats a small venue at the back of a pub in Kings Cross was really last minute and was added to promote their new album while they were in town doing interviews for the music magazines. I can't think of any better way they could promote the new material than playing it to the industry and a selection of die hard fans who were lucky enough to get tickets.

Their new album that is going to be entitled 'Devil' and will be available on April the 1st is the first to contain lead guitarist Thomas Erak who joined the band after Jason Hale left back in 2012. Thomas has really taken his place in the band like a duck to water and you can't imagine him not being in it in the first place, I think he was born to be the guitarist in Chiodos. Also today is Thomas' birthday so half way through the set he is greeted by a sing a long of "Happy Birthday!" from all the fans along with a nice cake from the band.

They open up with the D.R.U.G.S. song 'Thermacare' Aka 'The Only thing you talk About' which blast them off into motion like a rocket and is a great tune to get this tiny venue into motion. Destroy rebuild until the Gods Show Aka D.R.U.G.S. was the band Craig formed with Matt Good (From first to Last) after he left Chiodos, Craig Owens is on good form now with Chiodos and as the set goes on encourages the crowd to get more intimate and up close and personal, saying "I thought this show would be well hotter by now!" and then he realised what he has done when the place erupts.

They grace us with well defined versions of 'There's no penguins in Alaska' and the brilliant 'A letter to Janelle' before they deliver one of the highlights in the bands set is the brilliant new song 'Ole fishlips is dead Now' which all the fans already know the lyrics too even though it had only been put on YouTube not too long ago. This song really shows the strength of the bands new material and is an instant hit with the fans. It get's so hot in the venue so they end up missing out some of the songs already written on the setlist but it doesn't really seem to matter because everyone is having such a good time. 

The intensity they play the set with really shows the band off to the best they can be and well written songs like 'The Undertaker's thirst for revenge is Unquenchable (The Final Battle)' and 'If I cut my Hair, Hawaii will Sink' end the set of in the best way they can. So when they come back on for 'Baby, You wouldn't last a minute on the Creek' which by the setlist should have been played earlier you feel you really got something extra tonight. Chiodos are back on form and are a band to watch in 2014 and if you have not seen them live then I strongly advise you do because they deliver every time.
